Movement on Bill C-226

There is exciting news coming out of the Senate: we are one step closer to moving forward Bill C-226, a National Strategy to Address Environmental Racism and Environmental Justice Act. On October 26th, 2023, Bill C-226 had its second reading before the Senate where it was agreed on division. This means it is one step closer to passing into law.
 
So, what’s next?
The bill will proceed to the Energy Committee for a comprehensive examination, accompanied by testimonials from experts in the field. Following the Committee’s thorough review, a report will be submitted to the Senate for voting. If approved, the bill will advance to its third and final reading debate. Upon successful passage, it will undergo Royal Assent.
