Cheyenne Parisian,

Community Projects and Consultations Coordinator

How did I get involved with Lake Winnipeg Indigenous Collective? The land, water and air are essential to the well being of our people and our community. Chief and Council, along with the Director of Consultation and Special Projects assigned me to take part and it’s a great opportunity to learn more and be able to share this knowledge I gather with our community.

What does water mean to me?

I could probably write a chapter about water – maybe even a book.

In short I will say that everything stems from Mother Earth as water is the life blood that flows through her. Every lake, river, creek, stream etc. is all connected.

Water is alive – water has a spirit – water is sacred – Water is life!

What is your favorite Water activity? Over the years I have taken part in a water walk ceremony, we walk to acknowledge how sacred the water is and all that is connected – which would be “all life”. – Water sustains all life!
